Duo Siqueira Lima (UY/BR) will perform at the Viljandi Guitar Festival on October 10.

Duo Siqueira Lima is one of the world’s most prestigious guitar ensembles, renowned for their technical and interpretative virtuosity, seamless interplay, and bold, original arrangements for two guitars. Their repertoire spans both classical music and the rich traditions of Brazilian and Latin American popular music, offering audiences a truly unique musical experience.

Brazilian guitarist Fernando de Lima and Uruguayan guitarist Cecilia Siqueira have created one of today’s most original and remarkable guitar duos. Their innovative and multifaceted repertoire, ranging from classical to popular genres, combined with their unique charisma, has earned them an extensive fan base and significant recognition from critics and top figures in the music world.

One of the most striking aspects of Duo Siqueira Lima’s work is their daring arrangements across a wide range of styles, from Pixinguinha, Dominguinhos, and João Bosco to Johann Sebastian Bach, Claude Debussy, and Heitor Villa-Lobos. A prime example is their transcription of Villa-Lobos’s Bachianas Brasileiras No. 4 in its entirety, which has become one of their signature works. Their famous four-hand rendition of Tico-tico no Fubá has elevated classical guitar to an unprecedented level of visibility, earning them international acclaim. They have performed in more than 40 countries across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia, gracing prestigious stages such as Lincoln Center (New York), New World Center (Miami), and Het Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), as well as various international guitar festivals worldwide.
