About Yugeneration
Yugeneration is Yugen’s non-profit project. For every bottle or can sold, €0.02 goes to the foundation. Our mission is to reconnect people with nature while helping to restore it.
The name says it all: YUGENeration. Yugen is a Japanese concept — the sense of wonder you experience when surrounded by the beauty of nature. That moment when the vastness of the world around you gives you goosebumps.
We believe that people who truly experience nature are more likely to take care of it. That’s why Yugeneration funds free nature experiences in collaboration with strong local organizations. This autumn, we’re organizing a series of free activities in nature, including De Woudezel.
Discover the world of food forests
What if agriculture looked a little more like a forest? During this Food Forest Tour, De Woudezel will guide us through the different parts of their food forest. We’ll discover how a food forest works, which edible plants, shrubs and trees grow there, and how nature and food production come together.
But most importantly, we’ll get hands-on ourselves.
Along the way, we’ll gather ingredients from the food forest. Afterwards, we’ll cook our harvest together over an open fire and prepare a lunch featuring a variety of food forest specialties.

About our partner: De Woudezel
Voedselbos De Woudezel in Houthulst is a food forest and permaculture project founded by Diderik Clarebout.
De Woudezel brings nature and agriculture together and has built up a rich diversity of edible plants, shrubs and trees over the years. From familiar varieties to flavors you’ve probably never tasted before.
Through guided tours, workshops and courses, they share their knowledge of food forests, permaculture and edible plants. For Yugeneration, Diderik will guide us through the food forest before taking us to the fire to cook together with what we’ve harvested.
What can you expect?
A morning where we’ll first discover the food forest and then literally get a taste of it.

Along the way, we’ll gather ingredients that are ready to be harvested at that time.
🔥 Cooking together over an open fire
We’ll use our harvest to prepare food together around the fire.
🍽️ Lunch together
We’ll finish around the table with dishes prepared over the fire, food forest specialties, soup, homemade bread and wild salad.
Together, we’ll discover, harvest, cook and eat.

FAQ
Do I need to register for the event?
Yes. As places are limited, registration in advance is required.
Why do I have to pay a reservation fee if the event is free?
To avoid no-shows, we charge a small reservation fee. This amount will be fully refunded after you attend the event.
Do I need any prior knowledge?
No. You don’t need to know anything about food forests, permaculture or cooking with wild plants. Diderik will guide you through everything step by step.
Is food included?
Yes. We’ll harvest and cook together and finish the activity with a lunch featuring dishes prepared over the fire, food forest specialties, soup, homemade bread and wild salad.
What ages are the events suitable for?
Our events are open to all ages, unless otherwise stated on the event page.
What if I can no longer attend?
If you can no longer participate, please cancel in time (at least 7 days in advance) and let us know via email at [email protected], so someone else can take your place. In case of a no-show without prior notice, your reservation fee will be donated to Yugeneration.
What should I bring?
Bring sturdy shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather. A large part of the activity will take place outdoors.
Where exactly does the event take place?
The event takes place at Voedselbos De Woudezel in Houthulst. We’ll share the exact practical information and meeting point after registration or a few days before the event.
Will the activity go ahead in bad weather?
Yes. Weather is part of the nature experience, so a little rain is no reason to cancel. Dress accordingly. The event may only be cancelled for safety reasons in case of a storm or extreme weather.
What happens if an activity is cancelled?
The organization will monitor the conditions closely and communicate any cancellations as soon as possible. If possible, we’ll arrange a new date.
