A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT Film Screening
Wednesday 14. January at 20:30 - 22:11
FOMO Secret Cinema, Tbilisi
Ana Lily Amirpour | 2014 | USA Iran | 101 minutes | Persian language with English subtitles.
Presented as part of our Persian Film Fest this week at FOMO Secret Cinema.
This black and white vampire story of a very different variety takes place in a fictional Iranian town where a young woman stalks abusive men at night. She moves through empty streets, drug dens, and lonely apartments, quietly reversing the power dynamics around her. The film blends horror, romance, and underground music into a stylised portrait of isolation and desire.
Although made in the United States, the film belongs to the third wave of Iranian cinema in exile. It reflects the restrictions placed on women inside Iran by imagining a figure who cannot be controlled. The film became a cult success for its tone and for introducing a new kind of Iranian genre cinema.
