Guided tour of the Vasily Kandinsky exhibition at the Musée de la Musique in Paris
Музыкоград, Paris
The Kandinsky exhibition at the Musée de la Musique (Philharmonie de Paris), co-produced with the Centre Pompidou, offers a unique opportunity to experience the work of the greatest abstract artist of the 20th century in the context of his musical passions. Kandinsky and Schoenberg, Kandinsky and Scriabin, Mussorgsky, Wagner — these cross-connections open unexpected and captivating perspectives on the artist’s work. With his composer colleagues, Kandinsky challenged established conventions, relying on intuition and his inner ear. He broke the boundaries between painting, music, and theater, striving for a “total art” — a unified, synthetic experience.
During the tour, we will look at his paintings as deliberate constructions and explore the principles behind their composition. What do color, form, and line mean for Kandinsky, and what role do they play in creating a “sounding” image?
Do you like Kandinsky but cannot explain why? Or, on the contrary, does his work feel distant, yet you want to finally understand it? After this tour, you will have all the keys to interpreting the art of one of the most daring and inspiring artists of the past century.
