CIOMR JUNIOR MEDICAL RESERVE OFFICER WORKSHOP 2023

This workshop aims to provide Junior (OF-1 to OF-3) Medical Reserve Officers with exposure to a multi-national environment and to colleagues from across NATO and partner nations. It is a unique professional development opportunity that will augment their development into future medical commanders. All healthcare and Medical Support Officers are warmly invited to apply to participate in this workshop.

LOCATION

Helsinki Congress Paasitorni, address: Paasivuorenkatu 5 A, FIN-00530 Helsinki TICKETS AND REGISTRATION Each participant must register and buy a ticket. Tickets are sold only in Fienta and must be purchased, and invoices paid before the event. People without registration are not permitted to participate. Registration With regular fee: 17 March - 30 April Late registration: 1 May - 31 May. All costs, to include travel, lodging, and registration, are the responsibility of the participant or their host nation.

SCHEDULE

Sun 25 June 23 (arrival day 24 June) and ending on Fri 30 June (departure day 1 Jul 23). The workshop programme will involve: Introduction to NATO and NATO Medical Functions A science and innovation symposium including the Scientific Committee’s Open Paper Sessions on Medical Military topics Fireside chats with Senior Medical Reserve Officers from across NATO Attendance at CIOR’s Symposium (subject TBC) A workshop on operational medical planning and table-top exercise delivered by planning officers from NATO Civilian-Military negotiation training and exercise focused on understanding and exerting influence Opportunities to network with fellow Junior Officers

PREREQUISITE

Participants will be required to prepare a slide and 3-minute presentation on the Military Medical Scope and Capabilities of an Assigned NATO Nation. This will require pre-travel preparation and research. This will be delivered to the wider CIOMR delegation, with an audience of international Reserve Officers up to OF6\. Participants will have the opportunity to contribute to the CIOMR Scientific Committee Free Paper Session. Participants are required to submit at least one topic that is relevant or informative to an international military medical audience. These topics can be scientific/clinical or share a process or experience. Participants will present their topics as a poster format between briefs or, if selected to do so, as a 10-minute brief to the International Delegation during Free Paper Session.

NB! According to the Finnish territorial surveillance act 755/2000, wearing a uniform at any time during a visit to Finland requires permission granted by the Defence Command Finland. The form currently used is the "APPLICATION FOR A PERMIT FOR A MILITARY PERSON OR UNIT FOR ENTERING FINNISH TERRITORY". You can download the form from the event website, .fi/registration/
This application should come via diplomatic channels, your embassy or the military attaché office. For each country, the commanding officer of the visiting unit must send assembled applications. All the items of the application must be filled in. The commanding officer is to be named, and the total number of personnel in the unit/travel group is marked in item 3. Other participants may be listed in a separate document. On entering and leaving Finland, planned points for crossing the national border must be mentioned. Without this permit, the reservists of a visiting country are not allowed to wear any military uniforms in Finland. THIS APPLICATION MUST BE SENT IN ADDITION TO THE TICKET PURCHASE. Please ensure the application is delivered to the Finnish Defence Forces, to the address mentioned on the application form, by your embassy or military attaché office by Thursday, 8 June at the latest.

ACCOMMODATION

JMROW participants are asked to stay at the Hotel Scandic Paasi (co-located with the conference centre), Hotel Scandic Hakaniemi, Hotel Hilton Helsinki Strand or Hotel Scandic Grand Central. For booking codes contact organizing crew.

MEALS

Lunch is served at Paasitorni. Lunch and coffee are included in the ticket. Breakfast and dinner is each participants own responsibility.
