Tiran Willemse: blackmilk

Kiasma theater, Helsinki

In the frame of Moving in November

Tiran Willemse's blackmilk merges the movements of trompoppies, Afrikaan drum majorettes in uniform, with the melodramatic gestures of white femme starlets and Black masculine rap icons. Through this fusion, blackmilk explores the disparity in portrayals of African and Afro-American male-presenting bodies, challenging the narrow spectrum of representation and delving into the grey zones of legible identities.
