In 2021 ASEAN launched a Digital Masterplan 2025 which designs the roadmap to enhance digital health development in the region. The digital health sector was identified as the main public service priority.

Population of ASEAN countries is still considered young, in comparison with developed countries, however population ageing is a rising trend and the demand for healthcare services is expected to rise.

The ASEAN region is quite diverse in terms of the adoption of technology, for instance Singapore is to be considered a regional hub for medical services while countries such as Vietnam are behind the global average.
