Jim Williams in Warsaw

A short residency at Południk 2.0
This is not a motivational workshop.
It’s a working room.

Comedy Lab is a 4-session, small-group workshop led by Jim Williams, focused on building real, practical comedy and communication skills through guided exercises, feedback, and structured progression.

Each session builds on the previous one.

You’re not just learning techniques, you’re developing instincts.

Structure: 2–2.5 hours per session
About Jim Williams

Jim Williams is an American comedian and performance coach with over 20 years of international experience, working in theatres, festivals, television, and non-traditional spaces across Europe and beyond.

He has lived and performed in Poland for 13 years, appeared on Comedy Central Polska, and was a semi-finalist on Poland’s Got Talent, performing in Polish.

Jim is known for a hands-on, practical approach that blends stand-up, improvisation, and physical performance, with a strong focus on presence, honesty, and instinct. He works comfortably with both beginners and experienced performers.

This workshop is built from real stage experience, focused on what actually works in front of people, not abstract theory.

This workshop series runs as part of Jim Williams’ Warsaw residency at Południk 2.0 and concludes on March 22.

Participants may join individual sessions or follow the full progression.
The course does not continue beyond this date.

Chapter 1 – Foundations of Comedy
📅 February 8 – 4:00 PM
This session builds the base everything else stands on.
We focus on:

How comedy really works (timing, rhythm, contrast)
Presence and play
Getting out of your head and into the moment
Making clear, confident choices in front of others
There is no pressure to be funny.
The goal is to start thinking and reacting like a performer.

Chapter 2 – Improv & Instinct
📅 February 22 – 4:00 PM
Comedy happens faster than thought. This chapter trains instinct.
We work on:
Listening and responding instead of planning
Trusting first impulses
Partner and group exercises
Staying present when things don’t go as expected
This session builds confidence, speed, and ease in communication and performance.

Chapter 3 – Clowning & Physical Comedy
📅 March 8 – 4:00 PM
Here we strip things back even further.
Focus areas:
Physical expression and emotional honesty
Embracing failure and awkwardness
Finding what is funny without words
Using the body as a storytelling and comedic tool
This chapter is often where participants experience their biggest breakthrough.

Chapter 4 – Stand-Up & Personal Voice (Final Chapter)
📅 March 22 – 4:00 PM
The course closes by bringing everything together.
We work on:
Finding your personal point of view
Shaping ideas into short stand-up material
Stage presence and delivery
Performing with clarity and confidence
This session is about owning your voice, your timing, and your space.
Group size: Limited (to keep a focused learning environment)
Level: Open to beginners and experienced participants
Language: English
This workshop is for people who want to grow, laugh, and leave with practical tools, not just jokes.
No matter what you do for a living, humor, presence and human connection play a powerful role in everyday life, whether you’re meeting new people, leading a team, presenting your ideas, or simply trying to open doors and hearts with confidence.
