On March 22th at 7:00 PM in Astana, neurobiologist Alexander Panchin will give a lecture titled "The Brain Manipulates You. Critical Thinking for Russell's Teapot Beginners".
During the lecture, Alexander Panchin will engagingly discuss common thinking errors that often underlie misconceptions and pseudoscience.
The goal of the lecture is to encourage more frequent reflection on the validity of our reasoning and the arguments we hear from others.
Alexander Panchin says, "If I were given exactly one and a half hours in all educational institutions worldwide to enhance rationality on a planetary scale, I would deliver this lecture".
Alexander Panchin is a candidate of biological sciences, recipient of the "Enlightener" prize, author of novels and popular science books, a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Commission against pseudoscience, and a member of the Board of the "Evolution" educational foundation. He is also the creator of a popular YouTube channel.
The lecture will be conducted in Russian and is suitable for both adults and children.
