On November 22 at 7:00 PM in Bishkek, astronomer Vladimir Surdin will present a lecture titled "We must explore the space caves!"

The most promising locations for the search for life beyond Earth and for building extraterrestrial habitats are caves on planets, moons, asteroids, and comets. In caves, living organisms are shielded from cosmic radiation, and the extreme daily temperature fluctuations, which can reach hundreds of degrees on the surface, are much less pronounced. Caves have higher humidity levels, and water is essential for life. Caves have already been discovered on Mars and other potentially habitable celestial bodies, but they remain unexplored due to the lack of speleological robots. These robots need to be developed, and this work has already begun.

Are the caves of Mars and the Moon the new frontiers of space colonization? Why are caves on other celestial bodies considered suitable for life? How could the presence of water in caves affect the chances of discovering life? Why don’t we yet have robots capable of exploring caves on other planets? What technical challenges need to be overcome? New, unconventional ideas are needed to study these cosmic undergrounds! You will learn all about them at the lecture.

Following the lecture, there will be a Q&A session where participants can ask their questions. Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase books by Vladimir Surdin with his autograph and take a photo with the author.

Vladimir Surdin is an astronomer, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, associate professor at the Faculty of Physics at Moscow State University, senior researcher at the P.K. Sternberg State Astronomical Institute, science popularizer, and the author and editor of several dozen popular science books on astronomy and astrophysics. He is a laureate of the Belyaev Prize and the "Enlightener" Prize.

The lecture will be held in Russian on November 22 at 7:00 PM in the main hall of OloloPlanet, located at 80 Yunusaliev Avenue.
