Laugh-guss!

During the first Sauna Social session, artist Barry Sykes will host Laugh-guss! A group experiment in the power of pretend positivity!

Laugh-guss is a combination of the German ‘aufguss’ sauna ritual mixed with a series of Laughter Yoga exercises, for double the pleasure, catharsis and hedonistic endorphin rush.

Barry Sykes invented ‘Laugh-guss’ combining his love of both practices, each providing a space to step out of our usual behaviours and directly connect with others, in a playful combination of mind and body.

In a series of short introductory sessions across the Sauna Social evening Barry will lead groups through a short sequence of breathing exercises as we sit on the sauna benches, gradually moving into more animated vocal gestures, to a final crescendo of deep, genuine collective joy!

Suitable for all ages and abilities.

Barry Sykes is an artist and teacher based in London, with a practice built around drawing, making and performance. Barry will be in Tallinn for his UK Arts Council funded research project called #SaunaAsStudio that looks at bathing culture as an experimental space for reflection, connection, rest and pleasure.
