International Summer Naturist University

The International Naturist Federation (INF-FNI) with the Fédération Française de Naturisme (FFN)is holding a 2-day academic seminar on June 13 & 14 in Paris. 

This 1st International Summer Naturist University is the inaugural event in what is intended to become an annual gathering hosted in different countries worldwide.

Bernard Andrieu, Professor at the Université Paris-Cité & Co-Founder with David Lorenté PhD Student of L’ANAT, les Archives des NATurismes in the Société Francophone de philosophie du sport (SFPS) initiated the project after the tremendous success of the 2024 Paradis Naturistes exhibition at the MUCEM in Marseille.

Naturism is far more than nudity, it is a philosophy of living. Nudity is simply the means to foster body acceptance, respect for others, and a more natural way of life. But the philosophical dimensions have frequently been diminished, to the extent that naturism is often reduced to a mere synonym for nudity.

Accordingly, the theme of this year’s conference will be The Heritage of Naturism: Historical Foundations and Future Directions.  Participants will be presenting and discussing research and projects related to this topic.

“The success and growth of naturism has resulted in a watering down of the fundamental ideas behind naturism to the point that for many people, it’s become a mere leisure activity. The International Naturist Federation and its 40 national federations are committed to restoring the values of the movement that motivated the pioneers over a century ago.” said Stéphane Deschênes, president of the INF-FNI.

 The conference is being held at ESPACE MVG in Paris in conjunction with the Nu au Paradis photo exhibition. It provides thematic continuity because Michael von Graffenried’s photography perfectly illustrates how naturism has changed over the decades.

Attendance will be possible either in person or remotely as a webinar. Pre-registration is required.  In-person space is extremely limited and priority will be given to individuals involved in studying naturism.
