Fine5 Dance Theatre Evening of Young Choreographers "DREAMS. DINNER"

Evening of young choreographers - "DREAMS. DINNER" consists of two performances by young dance artists.

"DREAMS" by SAMUEL KOPPEL is a solo performance inspired by the author's dreams. When Samuel started keeping a nightly dream diary he noticed that formulating and retelling the world of dreams can be a challenging, yet meaningful activity that resonated with others. He then tested the idea to explore his world of dreams in the form of dance and movement. The performance is based on the connections between the subconscious and the conscious, the mixing of spirituality and dreams, and the need to conceptualize the entire process, according to the founder of analytical psychology, C. G. Jung. According to Jung, the subconscious side of events in dreams is not revealed as rational thought, but as symbolic images.
"DREAMS" explores the connection between superficial chaos and the emotional logic of dreams using text, choreography, physical theatre and singing.

Samuel has completed the choreography curriculum of Tallinn University and studied acting at the Arts University Bournemouth in England. He is now establishing himself in various theatre projects in Europe. This season, Samuel has participated as a dancer in two Fine5 Dance Theatre productions ("THE Family", "Vahtra hääl and Üllas Kuu").

Director, author of texts, choreographer and performer: Samuel Koppel
Lighting: Ants Kurist

The authors and performers of „DINNER“ VANESSA GENIALI - ANNCHIARA GALLO - CHIARA FIORE are dancers of the 2024-25 season of Fine5 Dance Theatre. They have graduated from the Roma Vivo Center (Italy) contemporary dance programm.
The focus of the "DINNER" is on three women at the dinner table - this is a seemingly ordinary situation in which there is nothing extraordinary. However, through the illusion of ordinariness, the viewer's gaze is directed to an alternative social mirror, allowing us to notice the dynamics of relationships and the effort to peacefully coexist without losing identity and empathy. This work raises questions about how can individuality and empathy exist without destroying each other? How to balance the fragile human ego and its needs with the speed and pressure of societal standards?
The artists were inspired by Carrie Mae Weems' famous photo series The Kitchen Table Series, in which the author explores the power of black women through domestic routines, relationship dynamics, and the struggles of everyday life. In all series, the kitchen and table play a central role, as if it were a turning point in the emotional and practical lives of the tenants.
