WHAT IS THE MAELSTROM CUP?
The Maelstrom Cup is a beatboxing tournament comprising some of the best loopers and beatboxers around the UK and beyond!

Expect no less than some insane battles, insane showcases and most importantly good vibes and an excellent time!

In the Solo Beatboxing Competition, 16 participants go head-to-head in a knockout tournament, where each beatboxer must demonstrate their beatboxing skill, stage presence, creativity and musical prowess. Each battle will end with 5 judges voting on a winner.

In the Loopstation Competition, 4 participants will battle with a live looping setup, where they demonstrate the ability to create complete musical pieces with nothing but their vocals and effect pedals to create a fascinating sound design! They will be using a Boss RC-505 /(MkII) Loopstation to face each other in this battle of music production, live performance and ability to integrate their beatboxing into a live set!

TRAVEL INFORMATION
The venue is right in the heart of Birmingham. Birmingham Moor Street Station is a mere 2-minute walk away from the venue. There are also easy connections to Birmingham Airport and Manchester Airport, which may offer cheaper flights.

BATTLE INFORMATION

• The battles will be a knockout tournament for both categories.
• Solo battles will consist of 2, 90-second rounds each.
• Loopstation Battles will consist of 2, 3-5 minute rounds each:
  You are allowed the use of one loopstation and a MIDI controller.
  All sounds must be vocally triggered/sourced.
  Your Loopstation must be either a Boss RC-505 or a Boss RC-505MkII Loopstation.
