EFTA winner at Kai Cinema: “Fränk”

On April 24, the Estonian Film and Television Awards were presented for the tenth time. The best feature film of last year was “Fränk” – a youth film about relationships between children and parents, and peer pressure.

The film won a total of five awards: Best Director (Tõnis Pill), Best Screenplay (Tõnis Pill and Laura Raud), Best Cinematography (Peter Kollanyi), and Best Production Design (Kaia Tungal).

Paul, who comes from a broken family, temporarily moves to a new town where he begins making increasingly poor decisions in an attempt to assert himself. His inevitable downward spiral is interrupted by a strange disabled man...

This moving drama invites the audience to engage with complex family relationships, childhood pain, and the meaning of unexpected friendship, offering an emotional journey that also includes sharp yet warm-hearted humor.
