With the start of the new year, Fotografiska opens the exhibition "Infamous" by the prominent, controversial and provocative American photographer Andres Serrano.

Andres Serrano is renowned for his vivid and often vulgar colour photographs that explore a range of social issues and taboos, including racism, religious persecution, torture and death. His work has been at the centre of debates about censorship and public funding of controversial art.

With his works in the exhibition "The Notorious", Andres Serrano confronts the racist history of the United States. In 2019, the artist discovered that objects that normalise blackface culture live a life of their own on eBay. He started buying and photographing these objects to remind people of how racism has existed and continues to exist in various forms.

Andres Serrano questions his own and other people's obsessions with subjects that border on the acceptable. He wants to explore things he doesn't know and encourage people to discuss things they don't normally talk about - facing the fear of the unknown and the unexpected is how we learn.

Fotografiska member +1 gets free entry to the exhibition opening. Due to limited places, please book your ticket at Fienta as soon as possible.
