After a long workweek, you want to rest and recharge. But while physical fatigue is easy to manage, what about the mind? It’s not always easy to quiet the thoughts constantly spinning in your head. While there’s no magic switch to turn them off, there is an unusual method that helps — it’s called Access Bars. This technique involves gently touching specific points on the head and face to bring the mind into harmony, release tension, and reduce anxiety.
What is it?
Access Bars is a technique where a trained practitioner lightly touches specific points (or “bars”) on your head and face. These 32 bars correspond to different areas of life — work, money, relationships, family, and so on. By activating them, the process helps release thoughts, emotions, and stress, guiding the mind into a state of clarity and calm.
Origins
Access Bars was developed in the 1990s by Australian Gary Douglas. He identified 32 energy points on the head, which he called “bars.” Through working with these points, he discovered that this method could support deep mental and emotional shifts. Over time, it became a transformative practice for many people looking to improve their well-being.
To test the method, neurologist Jeffrey Fannin conducted an EEG (electroencephalogram) study before and after an Access Bars session. The results were striking: after the session, brainwave activity showed a state of relaxation deeper than that achieved through an hour of meditation.
What happens during a session
The session feels similar to a gentle massage — though it’s not a massage in the traditional sense. The key elements are silence and complete relaxation. The practitioner gently touches the bars on your head, helping you slowly enter a state of mental “reboot.” Many people report feeling not only deeply relaxed but mentally refreshed afterward.
How Access Bars is different from meditation
Traditional meditation requires concentration and a conscious effort to clear the mind. It often takes time and practice to see results. With Access Bars, the practitioner does most of the work — all you need to do is relax. After just a few touches, you may begin to feel lighter and more at ease. It’s an ideal approach for people with busy, overloaded minds, offering tangible results right after the session.
2 private sessions of 60 minutes each.
