On March 4 at 19:00 in Amsterdam Irina Yakutenko will present a lecture "Why are you not losing weight".
Hormones, slowed metabolism, genetics, elevated insulin levels, processed foods — these and other factors are often cited as the main obstacles to losing weight. But what is true, and what is a myth?
In this lecture, you will learn:
The answers may surprise you, as paradoxically, much of the conventional wisdom about why we gain weight and struggle to lose it has no real foundation. At the same time, modern science provides a clear understanding of the mechanisms behind weight gain. Can this knowledge help create guaranteed, successful weight-loss strategies? We'll explore this in detail during the lecture.

Irina Yakutenko is a molecular biologist, scientific journalist, author of the books "Willpower and Self-Control: How Genes and the Brain Prevent Us from Fighting Temptations" and "The Virus That Broke the Planet," creator of the popular Telegram channel "Willow Masons" and the author's YouTube channel about a scientific perspective on ordinary things.
