WORKING WITH WHAT EXISTS — Accessories from Accessories

MAISON SHIFT, Zürich

Create new accessories from what is already there and transform broken or unused jewellery into unique pieces through craft, reuse, and your own sense of value.

In this workshop, you explore how new value can emerge from existing materials. Starting with damaged, unused, or overproduced jewellery, you learn how to take pieces apart and reassemble them into personal accessories.

NCCFN works at the intersection of design, craft, and circular practice. Instead of introducing new materials, the process begins with what already exists. Elements such as beads, chains, pendants, and fragments are recombined into new, self contained compositions.

You gain a basic understanding of how accessories are constructed and how individual components can be reconnected. Using simple techniques such as assembling, knotting, and fastening, you create your own piece.

At the same time, the workshop opens up questions around value, authorship, and perception. Materials often considered cheap or flawed can be recontextualised through making and personal engagement.

No prior experience is required. The workshop is open to anyone interested in hands on work, reuse, and alternative design approaches. You are welcome to bring your own jewellery, and additional materials will be provided.

NCCFN (Nothing Can Come From Nothing) is a multi local network working at the intersection of design, craft, and culture. Starting from overproduced and unsold clothing and accessories, they develop collaborative interventions that recontextualise existing materials. They understand fashion as a relational infrastructure that connects people, materials, and systems, and use it to question and rethink modes of production, distribution, and use.
