There, nature turns hostile and the woman’s psyche begins to unravel, revealing violent, mythological, and ritualistic undertones.

For her role in what became the most controversial film of the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, Charlotte Gainsbourg won the Best Actress award (Palme d’Or).
