How to live in a world that seems crazy?

A world filled with hate speech, xenophobia, conspiracy theories, war, oppression, and genocide.

Where populist politicians and crazy presidents spread fascist rhetoric in the media.

Where deep fake images, fake news, and alternative truths create an almost psychotic state.

Where multinational corporations anonymously and untouchably wield their power outside of any democratic system, and where technology and social media oligarchs have unlimited access to people’s lives.

Where neoliberal forces manipulate and shape us using algorithmically collected data that we ourselves leave behind.

What have we become, and where is our original selves?

But if all the masks fall away, what remains may not be the real person, but only an exhausted emptiness— or the possibility of a new beginning?

In Tabula Rasa, the Venus Maskworks ensemble continues to explore the ideas of Wilhelm Reich and his followers about society, the human body, and the psyche. The first part, The Re-invention of Self (Antifascistic bodybuilding), was performed in Betania in 2022.

Tabula Rasa takes a head start in Universum’s new theatre space, Stage Konepaja.

The theatre is still under construction, but Venus Maskworks has broken into the attic and invites its audience to a pop-up performance at the construction site.

Premiere 11.10.2025

Strong flashing lights are used in the performance.
The performance is multilingual / wordless.
The performance is not wheelchair accessible.
Age recommendation 15+
