Webinar CHEMA THERAPY WITH DREAMS AND NIGHTMARES

Online

Lynda Parry - Clinical Psychologist, schema therapist, supervisor and trainer

Patients consistently rate working alliance, insight and session quality significantly higher in dream interpretation sessions than in regular therapy sessions yet few clinicians are utilising patients’ dreams in their therapeutic work. Are you and your patients missing out on this valuable resource?

By understanding the relationship between dreams, memory consolidation, and implicit memory, therapists can use dream content to enhance their therapeutic work. Dreams often provide direct access to the vulnerable child mode without the accompanying coping modes, offering valuable insights into a client's unmet core needs and maladaptive schemas. These insights can help therapists tailor limited reparenting interventions more effectively, fostering corrective emotional experiences within therapy sessions.

Recurrent nightmares of PTSD require a different treatment approach. The aim is not to understand the nightmare but to reduce the frequency. The webinar will cover how to approach these nightmares to enable the patient to gain a sense of mastery over them which significantly aids in reducing both frequency and intensity.

The webinar will be held in English, with translation into Latvian and Russian provided.
