Everyone — children and adults alike — is invited to join Treasures Workshop, a playful, hands-on session where surprising images emerge from unexpected materials.
Using all kinds of leftover and found objects—construction toy pieces, sticks, buttons, bits of string, cardboard scraps, as well as natural materials such as twigs and stones—we will create pictures without relying on traditional art supplies. Working with reclaimed materials encourages us to see value in what might otherwise be discarded and discover creative ways to transform everyday odds and ends into art.
The images seem to appear almost by themselves, and surprises are guaranteed.
All materials are provided.
Workshop leader: illustrator Kertu Sillaste
Kertu Sillaste is an Estonian illustrator, picturebook author, and art educator. She has written and illustrated ten author-illustrated picturebooks, including three wordless books, and has illustrated works by many acclaimed writers. She teaches illustration courses at the Estonian Academy of Arts Open Academy and leads a children's illustration group at the Estonian Children's Literature Centre. Workshops for children in libraries, schools, and literary festivals are an important part of her artistic practice.
The workshop takes place as part of the Tartu Illustration Festival and begins immediately after the exhibition tour.
Everyone is welcome—children, adults, families, and anyone curious to create!
The workshop language is Estonian. Tickets available only via Fienta.
