THE PLEA (VEDREBA) 🇬🇪 Film Screening (Eng subs)

Presented in the original Georgian with English subtitles.

THE PLEA is the first part of Tengiz Abuladze’s celebrated trilogy, followed by FOMO regulars THE WISHING TREE (1976) and REPENTANCE (1984). Together they trace Georgia’s moral and spiritual history through allegory and human struggle

Adapted from the poetry of Vazha-Pshavela into a meditation on faith and human dignity. Tengiz Abuladze blends landscape, ritual, and silence into pure cinematic poetry. The film rejects plot for rhythm and feeling, creating an atmosphere closer to prayer than storytelling.

THE PLEA introduced a generation of filmmakers to the idea that cinema could express philosophy without words and we're super pleased to be able to present for the first time here at FOMO.

This Saturday is your last chance to see it on the big screen. If you're a fan of Georgian cinema, or are looking for an introduction, we'll be screening the trilogy over the next three weeks.
