This autumn’s most anticipated visual art experience awaits you in Tartu! 🌟
Taking place for the fifth time, this major event now bears a new name – Tartu Light Biennale TAVA26. It is a comprehensive international light art event that turns Tartu into a Mecca of light, attracting culture enthusiasts to Southern Estonia during the darkest time in the Nordic region.
The main theme of this year's biennale is "Antimatter" – a figurative force that offers alternative narratives to what currently exists and creates new energy.
Although TAVA26 activities last for a month, its main experience area in the University of Tartu Botanical Garden is open on only three exclusive evenings: October 22–24, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM.
Choose an evening that suits you and come be a part of a world of light where autumn nature, wonderful light art, lighting design, and good music meet.

Ticket info:
The festival ticket is valid for one-time use and grants entry to the main botanical garden event area on the evening of your choice (Oct 22–24).
The ticket grants entry between 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM (the area itself is open until midnight).
To ensure smoother entry, we recommend purchasing tickets in advance!
📍 Important for visitors:
Entrance: Access to the botanical garden area is from Lai Street.
Accessibility: We welcome visitors with strollers and wheelchairs to enter through the more accessible Kroonuaia gate.
Exit: Visitor flow is directed toward the street on the Emajõgi river side.
Pets: Due to the high number of visitors and large crowds, pets are not recommended on the festival grounds. Let's ensure a safe and comfortable experience for everyone!
