About Yugeneration & Forest To Plate

Learn how to forage and discover nature in a whole new way.

Yugeneration is the non-profit project of Yugen. For every bottle or can sold, 2 cents go to the foundation — bringing people back to nature and helping to restore it.

The name says it all: YUGENeration. Yugen is a Japanese concept — the sense of wonder you feel for the beauty of nature. That feeling lives in every can, every bottle.

This spring, we are organizing a series of free activities, including forest bathing.

That’s why we’re joining forces with Forest To Plate for a foraging session. Guided by a foraging expert from Forest To Plate, you’ll walk through a rural landscape and learn how to use wild plants as food. After the walk, we come together to enjoy a “wild” snack and drink.

What is ‘Start to Wildpluk’?

Start to Wildpluk is an accessible activity we organize together with Forest To Plate — everyone is welcome, whether you already have some basic knowledge or not.

We walk through forests and fields in Flanders and learn to look at nature around us through a new lens. We search for edible plants and discover their stories, unique properties, and of course their taste and relevance in today’s kitchen.

But for us, it goes beyond simply learning the names of plants and trees you may have seen before.
It’s also about:

  • Looking differently at our food: where does it come from, what is real and authentic food?

  • Slowing down: instead of quickly shopping in a supermarket, we move at the rhythm of nature

  • Discovering and experiencing flavors and scents together, creating connection — what we eat shapes who we are

  • Respect for nature: we follow the rules and only take what we need

That is what Forest To Plate stands for.

What can you expect?

During this foraging walk (maximum duration of 3 hours), the experts from Forest To Plate guide you through the experience.

You will discover, among other things:

  • How to look at your natural environment in a different way

  • Forgotten flavors and textures

  • How to engage additional senses during a nature walk

We finish with a small wild-inspired snack and drink. There will also be an opportunity to purchase their foraging book, so you can start exploring on your own.

Participation & Access

🎟 Ticket price: Free*

At Yugeneration, we aim to reconnect as many people as possible with nature. That’s why our events are completely free* and open to all ages.

To avoid overwhelming nature, we work with a limited number of spots per activity. Registration is therefore required.

*To avoid no-shows, we ask for a reservation fee. This will be fully refunded after your attendance. This allows us to distribute spots fairly and ensure that those who register actually participate.

Yugeneration is intended for individuals (no group or corporate registrations). Each person can participate in a maximum of 1 session per season; additional registrations may be cancelled. More details can be found in the FAQ.

FAQ

Do I need to register for the event?
Yes. As we work with a limited number of spots per activity, registration is required. This helps us ensure a pleasant experience for everyone and respect for nature.

Why do I need to pay a reservation fee if the event is free?
Our events are completely free because we want to reconnect as many people as possible with nature. To avoid no-shows, we ask for a small reservation fee. This will be fully refunded after your attendance.

What ages are the events suitable for?
Our events are open to all ages, unless stated otherwise on the event page.

What if I can no longer attend?
If you can no longer participate, please unsubscribe in time and notify us via email: [email protected] so someone else can take your spot. If you do not show up without notice, your reservation fee will be donated to Yugeneration.

What should I bring?
This may vary per activity. Practical information such as clothing, materials or preparation will be shared on the event page. For additional questions, you can contact: [email protected]

Where exactly does the event take place?
The exact location and practical details are usually shared after registration or a few days before the event. For additional questions, contact: [email protected]

Will the activity take place in bad weather?
Yes. Weather conditions are part of the nature experience, so rain alone is not a reason to cancel. We ask participants to dress accordingly. Only in case of storm or severe weather will the activity be cancelled for safety reasons.

What happens if an activity is cancelled?
The organization closely monitors weather conditions and communicates any cancellation at least 24 hours in advance. In that case, we usually offer a “rain check” and reschedule the session.
