What ?
Following the rapid sell-out of our first session, the Environmental Health Team is excited to return with our second Food Safety Workshop of the year—designed specifically to support small food businesses in meeting their legal obligations and feeling fully prepared for Environmental Health inspections.
This workshop gives food business owners and staff a clear, practical overview of the essential requirements for running a safe and compliant operation. We’ll cover everything from food handling and hygiene to food preparation practices, physical conditions of your premises, staff training expectations, and the fundamentals of maintaining an effective food safety management system.
Attendees will also benefit from hands-on support in completing their Safer Food Better Business (SFBB) pack. SFBB—created by the UK Food Standards Agency—is an accessible, step‑by‑step food safety management system designed specifically for smaller food businesses. If you’ve been meaning to get your pack in order, this is the perfect opportunity to get expert guidance and leave with real, usable progress.
Whether you’re a new start-up or an established small business looking to refresh your knowledge, this workshop is a practical, confidence‑boosting way to strengthen compliance and prepare for future inspections.
Why ?
All food business operators must have written procedures that show how they keep the food they prepare and sell safe. The Safer Food, Better Business (SFBB) pack is designed to help you meet this legal requirement in a practical, straightforward way.
Not having a suitable food safety management system is an offence, and if an inspection finds that yours is missing or inadequate, you could face serious consequences — including formal notices, enforced closure, or even prosecution.
Our message is simple: don’t wait for an inspection to discover a problem.
By getting your SFBB pack in order now, you can stay ahead of the curve, protect your customers, and safeguard your business reputation.
Our comprehensive Safer Food, Better Business workshops are built to give you the confidence, clarity, and support you need. We’ll guide you through identifying what needs improvement and help you fulfil your legal responsibility to maintain a strong, compliant Food Safety Management System.
Who?
These workshops are tailored specifically for small catering businesses — including restaurants, cafés, takeaways, food vans, and other mobile food units.
Where & When?
We’ll be running a series of workshops throughout the year, and after our first session sold out, we’re pleased to announce our second workshop will take place on Monday 16th November at the Knockaloe Classroom in Patrick.
The venue is situated just off Patrick Road, directly opposite the Centre for WW1 Internment. Depending on the direction you’re travelling, the classroom is the turning either just before or just after the Centre, on the opposite side of the road.
