May 23 at 5:00 PM, astrophysicist and science populariser Sergey Popov will give a lecture in Haifa about the search for extraterrestrial life 🪐
Astronomy studies stars and galaxies, black holes and dark matter, white dwarfs and red giants – objects of inanimate nature. The paradox is that, for many people, the most intriguing questions about the universe are related to living beings ☄️
We live in an era of rapid advances in astronomy and space exploration. There is hope that in the coming years, we may find the first evidence of life beyond Earth. This could happen through the study of celestial bodies in the Solar System using space probes—or through observations of exoplanets with next-generation telescopes 🔭
In this lecture, we will discuss which planets and moons in the Solar System scientists consider promising for finding life or its traces and how astronomers are already searching for evidence of life on distant exoplanets 🛸
After the lecture:
— Q&A session – ask your most interesting questions!
— Photo with the speaker – capture a moment with someone who knows secrets of the Universe
When: May 23 at 5:00 PM (doors open at 4:30 PM)
Where: Hadar Community Center (Matnas)
The lecture will be held in Russian.
🚀 Join us for an exciting event!
About the speaker:
Sergey Popov is an astrophysicist, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, and one of Russia’s most well-known science popularizers. He is a laureate of the "Enlightener" award and the author of books and numerous articles about stars, neutron objects, black holes, and exoplanets. He is actively involved in science journalism, gives lectures, and runs a popular YouTube channel about the universe.

In this lecture, Sergei Popov will explore some of the most enigmatic phenomena in modern astrophysics—dark energy, dark matter, and black holes. We will discuss the indirect evidence supporting their existence, why they remain among the most debated topics in science, and the methods researchers are using to unlock their secrets.
