On 10 October, you're warmly welcome to the Harrõoro smoke sauna – during the day from 12.00 to 15.00, or in the evening from 19.00 to 22.00. The sauna fits up to 6 people at a time.
The host never sends anyone to the sauna alone. I'll join you myself, and we'll go to the sauna bench together. I'll tell the story of our sauna and our farm, about smoke saunas in general, and about the way sauna has been done in these parts.
I'll show you how to use a vihta (sauna whisk), and if you're up for it, you can try whisking on your own skin or someone else's. You're welcome to bring your own vihta, but you don't have to — we keep some in stock at the sauna.
We go to the smoke sauna the way it's always been done here — mostly bare. Don't worry, in the dim sauna everyone looks equally good! If going fully bare isn't part of your own sauna customs, that's fine too — what matters is that everyone feels good and comfortable.
Between steams you can catch your breath, cool off in our pond, sip spring water or tea, and have a little something to eat.
We'll leave alcohol for some other occasion — we enjoy the smoke sauna with a clear head and a light heart.
For washing, you can choose salt, ash, or local tar soap. Either way, you'll come out clean.
After the daytime sauna, it's also possible to pre-order a late lunch in our old farmhouse.
