WINTER NIGHT — A Classical Music Concert | 07.01.27 (7:00 PM)
+ one more
St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Riga, Rīga
There is music that is forever associated with winter: frosty air and falling snow, the silence of a winter evening and the warmth of home, glowing windows and the lively rhythms of festive dances.
The programme “Winter Night” brings together Vivaldi and Tchaikovsky, Bach and Schubert, Piazzolla and Strauss. Spanning different countries and eras, this music reveals winter in many different shades — from delicate stillness and lyrical beauty to vibrant, festive movement.
Vivaldi’s famous Winter, winter scenes by Tchaikovsky and Schubert, Piazzolla’s southern winter, Shchedryk, music by Bach and Viennese dances will be performed by a string quintet.
On 7 and 8 January, at the very end of the winter holiday season, this music will fill St. Paul’s Church with its unique atmosphere.
The church’s magnificent acoustics, neo-Gothic vaulted ceilings and atmospheric lighting will enhance the character of the music — from quiet, intimate passages to bright and celebratory moments.
“Winter Night” — a musical finale to the winter holidays.
Musicians are located in the stalls, near the altar
Concert duration: approx. 1 hour 20 minutes
