[Workshop] Improv that Reaches Across Different Languages and Cultures (Tips and Tricks)

Saturday 13. June at 12:15 - 13:45

Centre 42, Singapore

Theme and Purpose:

Workshop and exchange of ideas for performing improv in more than one language and across cultures.

Description:

How do you make a room laugh when half the audience speaks a different language or you have an audience representing different cultures? The Pirates of Tokyo Bay have been figuring that out for 15 years across 9 countries.

This 90-minute workshop is a mix of hands-on activities and open discussion covering: how to build a set list for a multi-language show, techniques for making scenes land across language barriers and cultures, and some quick notes on the admin reality of running a multilingual group.

Whether your group already performs in multiple languages/across different cultures or you’re curious about trying it, this session is designed to be practical, fun, and casual. Bring your own stories - we want to hear what’s worked (and hilariously failed) for you too.

No experience with multi-language improv required. Just a willingness to play.
