PATCH MATCH

Thursday 4. June at 18:00 - 21:00

MAISON SHIFT, Zürich

Sew, stitch, position – and ask yourself: what does a piece of fabric tell?
A workshop on patches as craft, statement, and markers of identity. “Patch” comes from the idea of mending or attaching a piece of fabric. But a patch is more than repair. As an appliqué, it becomes a badge, a statement, a sign of belonging.

In this workshop, you will sew, embroider, and design your own patch using appliqué techniques on the sewing machine. What emerges is more than just a piece of fabric: it is a textile intervention between repair, decoration, and identity.

Where is a patch placed on the body—and why? What does it mean to make belonging visible? And how can textiles be used as an artistic medium to express social, political, or personal narratives?

What to bring:

  • A good pair of scissors, optionally a garment, and fabric scraps.

  • Basic sewing machine skills are an advantage.

  • Bring curiosity and an interest in working with materials and design!
