Kikimora doll-making workshop with Lea Blau

On the All Souls Day, 2 November at 2 pm, we are inviting people to a doll-making workshop, led by Lea Blau. At the workshop participants can create their own dolls, which can act either as talismans or an archetype of the maker themselves. This is an introspective practice, where the act of making a doll naturally becomes a reflection of the self. In many cultures, dolls are believed to carry spirits and play an important role in folklore. For this reason, the doll-making process was also a crucial part of the early stages of making the performance KIKIMORA.
The workshop is open to everyone of all ages. The workshop is carried out in English but in need, Estonian translation is available.
Attending the workshop is free, but we kindly ask to register yourself.
Lea Blau’s KIKIMORA weaves together Balkan folk songs and mythology, elements of contemporary dance, performance art, and sculpture. At the heart of this enchanting choreography are complex family dynamics and the relationships between mothers and daughters.
Lea Blau is a performance artist from Rijeka, Croatia. After professional training in acting, she expanded her practice through workshops and masterclasses in physical theatre and dance, and later specialized in Contemporary Performance and Theatre Making at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (CPPM), where she earned her MA degree. At the heart of her practice lies an exploration of decay, ritual, and transformation as fertile states of intensity and meaning. Through her work, the body becomes a vessel for the contradictory powers of femininity — dark, vulnerable, and transformative — while channeling personal and ancestral narratives into immersive live performances.
