Blending the traditions of Western classical music with the energy of electronic dance, grime, electro and hip-hop, Gabriel Prokofiev has developed a distinctive contemporary sound. His work challenges classical conventions while opening new possibilities for orchestral, chamber and electronic music.
His music has been performed internationally by ensembles including Seattle Symphony, Detroit Symphony, St Petersburg Philharmonic, BBC Philharmonic, MDR Leipzig, Copenhagen Phil, Luxembourg Philharmonique, Buenos Aires Filharmonica, Porto Symphony and Real Orquesta de Sevilla.
His practice also extends beyond the concert hall. He frequently collaborates with contemporary dancers and has worked with Stuttgarter Ballet, Rambert Dance, Bern Ballet, Shobana Jeyasingh, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Alexander Whitley Dance and Gandini Juggling. In 2019, his first full-length opera, Elizabetta, premiered at Regensburg Opera in Bavaria.
