Description
Duo Rosin-Novikov’s new program explores sound-painters and their connections with percussion instruments. The performance will feature Maurice Ravel’s Le tombeau de Couperin as well as new works by Pärt Uusberg and Dewa Alit.
Le tombeau de Couperin is one of the masterpieces of French Impressionism. Mathias Reumert’s arrangement makes creative use of melodic percussion, revealing Ravel’s sound world in a unique way.
The early Impressionists were strongly influenced by the Southeast Asian gamelan tradition, and one of the leading figures of this style today is considered to be the Balinese composer Dewa Alit. Last year, Duo Rosin-Novikov joined an international commissioning project that resulted in Sejoli for two vibraphones. Its Estonian premiere will take place during the upcoming concert tour.
Since both members of the ensemble deeply value presenting local composers and their music on stage, they commissioned a new work for this program from Pärt Uusberg, whose musical language complements the sound worlds of both Ravel and Alit.
Programme:
Pärt Uusberg
– Landscapes (premiere)
Dewa Alit
– Sejoli (Estonian premiere)
Maurice Ravel
– Le Tombeau de Couperin (arr. Mathias Reumert)
