Torsten Körner's documentary tells a little-known story of the Federal Republic of Germany: he looks at the women who have fought for their place in politics since the 1950s.
He uses a lot of archive material from parliamentary sessions, the speeches of the women, the reactions of the men. It quickly becomes apparent how enormous the task was to be taken seriously - before one could even think about equality.
Körner adds recent interviews with the same female politicians and their review of male rule is as frightening as it is entertaining. They are reminiscent of the rigid gender roles that prevailed before they began their struggle, and one recognizes the strength it took to fight it to this day.
