Screening at Kai Cinema: "Epp Maria. Elu maalides"
Thursday 2. April at 18:00 - 19:24
Kai Art Center, Tallinn
Genre: documentary, art
Duration: 1h 24min
.
The film opens a doorway into the enchanting world of Sepamaa Farm on Estonia’s western coast — a place where everyday life unfolds in harmony with nature and where reality feels touched by a hint of fairy‑tale magic. At the heart of this world is artist Epp Maria Kokamäe, whose paintings and presence shape the atmosphere of the farm.
She is joined by her husband, master craftsman Jaak Arro, and their three creative children: Liisu, a gallerist and ceramic artist; Anni, a beloved cookbook author and café owner; and Johannes, a cinematographer and photographer. Together with their families and animals, they form a warm, vibrant clan whose lives intertwine through art, food, craftsmanship, and a shared love for the sea‑lined landscape of Tõstamaa.
The film paints an intimate portrait of a family rooted in creativity — a colourful household reminiscent of a Mediterranean artistic tribe, yet deeply grounded in Estonian nature. Through their work and way of life, they reveal a simple truth: beauty and joy can be found in the everyday, if one knows how to look.
