Marcel Johannes Kits and Sten Heinoja · Beethoven & Tarm

Acclaimed musicians Marcel Johannes Kits (cello) and Sten Heinoja (piano) will present a beautiful concert at the Tubin Hall in Tartu. The program centers on the works of Ludwig van Beethoven and Heino Eller, and will also feature the world premiere of a new composition by Jonas Tarm, one of the most highly regarded composers of the younger generation.

The event is supported by the Estonian Cultural Endowment.

Ludwig van Beethoven's five sonatas for cello and piano are among the masterpieces of the genre, reflecting the composer's artistic development from early Classicism to the profound depth of his late style. It was in these works that the cello first emerged as an equal partner to the piano. The sonatas combine dramatic power, lyrical sensitivity, and formal ingenuity, offering a rich and rewarding musical experience.

Marcel Johannes Kits and Sten Heinoja will begin recording Beethoven's works in Berlin this August. Before the recording sessions, they will present this music in concerts across Estonia.
