The French saxophone duo, known for painting magical soundscapes, will perform at the jaZZanti concert in Hakasalmi Villa on Wednesday, October 30.
Mamie Jotax is a fictional character, a gentle grandmother from France who loves to paint soundscapes. Saxophone virtuosos Carmen Lefrançois and Camille Maussion join forces in this project, tirelessly feeding their imagination. Both have received solid musical education while simultaneously nurturing a spirit of adventure. They have drawn influences from various corners of the world, blending genres joyfully, from jazz to contemporary music and from folk music to free improvisation. In 2022, Mamie Jotax was selected for the prestigious Jazz Migration tour program in France.
Mamie Jotax’s highly theatrical performances have delighted audiences across Europe and South America. Before their concert in Helsinki, the duo will perform at Umeå Jazz Festival in Sweden and participate in an artist residency at Oulainen Music Week.
