A hilarious evening of comedy (in English) by a world-touring, Vienna favorite. Come laugh along as he jokes thru politics and religion.
After a packed show for his work-in-progress earlier this year, comedian Matt Davis returns to Vienna with his latest show, Colorful, at a performing arts favorite: dasWallenstein.
In a world hellbent on seeing things in black and white, the Alabama-born comedian draws from his childhood and contrasts it against the more than 300 cities across 65+ countries in which he has performed. A kids-eyed view of being dragged to friends' churches opens into a larger breakdown of world religions, community, and the "vibes grift" of evangelical Mega Churches; all after the veteran comedian tackles guns, politics as a soap opera, and a slew of "made up issues" that occupy our conversations.
Matt's joke-heavy autobiographical style, with his affable and internationally-minded approach, cast the bearded funny-man, coffee-cup in-hand, as the professor we all wish we had.

Matt Davis is an award-winning comedian with a long C.V. of global comedy and arts festivals spanning 25+ years of touring, including Just For Laughs in Montreal, Sketch Fest in San Francisco, UICF in Utrecht, Netherlands, the Bengaluru Comedy Festival in India, and many, many more. In 2015 his World in Jest project helped to connect disparate emerging comedy scenes, including many where he was the first foreign artist to perform with local scenes (Mongolia, Macedonia, Pakistan, and Bosnia-Herzegovina to name a few). This work led to his previous hour, BadFamiliar, and an on-going effort of the same name that hopes to help connect artists interested in crushing the notion that “familiar equals good” within their own work.
Matt’s early years of touring, mid-late 90s to 2015, were primarily in North America. During this time he was racking up 40 weeks a year on the road; toured as opening act for household names; was featured on Netflix in its early days; released 5 albums he does not care for now; and was regularly spun on Sirius / XM Radio.
‘Matt Davis uses funny personal narratives as he comically challenges beliefs related to language, nationality, and religion, and shakes down racism and social hypocrisy, among other things.
Having written it as he toured the world, the show brings a unique, and a borderless, perspective on the day-to-day issues faced by all communities, irrespective of their cultural backgrounds.”
‘Left the audience roaring!”
‘Near constant peals of laughter!”
‘After slaying crowds last year in his Shanghai debut, he’s back again!”
‘GREAT material!’
‘Matt Davis brought tears to our eyes with his incredible solo show’
‘Matt Davis killed it at Bengaluru Comedy Festival with his surprise special act!”
dasWallenstein is a creative space and performing arts center on Wallensteinplatz, and home to various performances and workshops throughout the year. It is home to a CoCreating Space and the AtelierCAFÈ, as well.
The show is a classic Vienna cellar space with arched brick ceilings.
Beverages are available before and after the show at AtelierCAFÉ.
