Haldi & ans Flamingo duo (EE) / Viljandi Guitar Festival 2026

Haldi & ans Flamingo duo will perform on the 8th of October at the Viljandi Guitar Festival. 🎸

Named after Marju Kuut's song Flamingod, Haldi & ans Flamingod came together for Võnge Festival in 2023. Since then, the group, led by founder Haldi Välimäe and bassist Mattias Tirmaste, has grown into a distinctive ensemble that, alongside reimagining music from Estonia's yesteryears, has developed its own original repertoire and performed across the country.

Haldi is an accomplished singer-songwriter whose career highlights include sharing the stage with Portuguese jazz musician Salvador Sobral and performing at Estonia's 2019 National Dance Celebration, where the title track from her debut album Raba accompanied one of the performances. She has explored Estonia's musical heritage in depth, both through academic studies and countless hours behind the turntable. An important milestone on the road to Haldi & ans Flamingod and their debut EP Õige aeg was the tribute album Marynile / For Maryn, dedicated to the legendary Marju Kuut.

Released in collaboration with Funk Embassy Records, Õige aeg marks the return of Estonian-language soul, disco and estrada grooves. It is a symbiosis of eras and timelessness, combining the sound of the 1970s and 1980s with contemporary songwriting while continuing the musical legacy of artists such as Marju Kuut, Els Himma and Heidy Tamme.

At Viljandi Guitar Festival, Haldi & ans Flamingod will take the stage in a completely new form. Instead of the band's usual ten-piece line-up, audiences will hear an intimate duo featuring Haldi and guitar virtuoso Mattias Tirmaste. The concert will feature songs from their debut EP Õige aeg alongside gems from Estonia's soul heritage, all performed in acoustic arrangements. Accompanied only by Mattias' guitar, Haldi's shimmering vocals reveal these songs in a new light, allowing the music to reach listeners in an especially intimate and heartfelt way.
