Description
On the hottest day of the year in Oslo, the lives of several strangers unexpectedly intersect. Each carries their own loneliness, longing and hopes, yet a series of chance encounters brings them together in ways that can change everything.

Erik Poppe’s critically acclaimed drama Hawaii, Oslo is a sensitive and poetic portrait of love, loneliness and the fragile connections between people. Moving between different stories and perspectives, the film reminds us that even the briefest encounter can leave a lasting mark—and that a single moment of human connection can carry unexpected meaning.

Hawaii, Oslo is presented as part of the Arvo Pärt Centre’s “Pärt & Film” film evenings, taking place for the 16th consecutive year. The programme explores a distinctive aspect of Arvo Pärt’s oeuvre: the use of his music in cinema.

This year’s film evenings are dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Pärt’s piano piece Aliinale, which premiered in 1976. The work features prominently on the soundtrack of the films screened this year, creating a quiet musical thread that connects the stories on screen with Pärt’s unique sound world.

In Norwegian with Estonian subtitles.
