Jeroen van der Most "The Excel Works"

Esmaspäev, 20. oktoober kell 17:30 - 19:00

PoCo popkunstimuuseum, Tallinn

PoCo popkunstimuuseum esitleb Hollandi kunstniku Jeroen van der Mosti uut teost „The Excel Works.“ Endine andmeteadlane Most põimib oma loomingus tehnoloogia, looduse ja mütoloogia, uurides mida tähendab inimeseks olemine nutikate masinate ajastul.

Uues teoses muudab Most ühe maailma ratsionaalsema tööriista Microsoft Exceli üllatuslikult poeetiliseks väljendusvahendiks. Kõik teosed on loodud täielikult Exceli keskkonnas, kasutades uuenduslikku AI-toega „vibe coding’u” programmeerimist.

20.oktoobril kell 17:30 toimub teose esmaesitus PoCo popkunstimuuseumis ning vestlusring kunstnikuga, mida viib läbi PoCo asutaja Linnar Viik.

Jeroen van der Most on Amsterdamis elav kunstnik, kes kombineerib traditsioonilist kunsti algoritmide ja tehisintellektiga juba üle 10 aasta. Tema töödest on kirjutanud mitmed rahvusvahelised väljaanded nagu The Guardian, MIT Technology Review, TheNextWeb, Artnet, The Art Newspaper jpt. PoCo muuseumis on varasemalt eksponeeritud tema teost "Vegetable vendetta," mis oma kummastaval viisil ja tehnoloogiliselt nutika lahendusega laseb kartulil tehisintellekti abil ennast ise turundada.

PoCo invites you to the launch of "The Excel Works", a new exhibit by Jeroen van der Most, artist and former data scientist, known for blending technology, nature, and myth to challenge what art and being human means in the age of intelligent machines.

In "The Excel Works", Most transforms one of the most rational, utilitarian tools in modern life, Microsoft Excel, into a surprising artistic medium. These works were created entirely within Excel using advanced vibe coding and merging code, data, and digital intuition.

"An ordinary computer can run these Excel artworks. They were made fully using cutting edge AI assisted programming. The flowers you see in the artwork are based on the output of a custom AI (GAN) model trained on ten thousands of flower pictures. The output of such a model can evolve indefinitely, endlessly morphing from flower to new flower. GAN models were the base for most creative AI art before the rise of current AI image and movie tools," Jeroen says.

The exhibit is a meditation and a warning against the overreliance on AI, data and rationality. In a world shaped by ChatGPTs, likes, and KPIs, Most invites us to question whether we’re losing touch with the natural and the human.

Join us on 20 October for the unveiling of The Excel Works and a conversation with the artist and PoCo founder Linnar Viik.
