Description
Martha is a gifted chef who has built her life around precision, discipline and control. But when she suddenly becomes responsible for her eight-year-old niece, Lina, the carefully ordered world she knows begins to change. The arrival of Mario, a warm-hearted and exuberant Italian sous-chef, only adds to the upheaval.
Sandra Nettelbeck’s Mostly Martha is a charming and tender story about learning to let go, opening oneself to others and discovering that life rarely follows the recipe we have planned for it. Set between the intensity of a professional kitchen and the fragile intimacy of family life, the film balances humour, romance and quiet melancholy with a generous human warmth.
At its heart is a simple story of transformation: a woman who has mastered the art of cooking must learn the more difficult art of living—and loving.
In German and Italian.
