Eric Schneider needs little introduction. One of the most celebrated lied pianists of his generation, an artist with a distinguished discography including recordings for Deutsche Grammophon, comes to Piano Insel on January 19th for a solo recital.
The programme sets two monumental sonatas against the pulsing minimalism of the American composer John Adams

Eric Schneider is one of the most sought-after and celebrated lied pianists of our time. For decades he has been the partner of choice for many of the great voices of the genre, among them Matthias Goerne, Christine Schäfer, Christiane Oelze, Anna Prohaska and Katharina Konradi — in long-standing, deeply developed musical partnerships.
His work has taken him to the world's foremost halls and festivals, including the Wigmore Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Tokyo Opera City and Salzburg Festival. His extensive discography documents this standing. Highlights include Schubert's Winterreise and Apparition (songs by Purcell and Crumb) with Christine Schäfer; Die schöne Müllerin and Wanderers Nachtlied with Matthias Goerne; and Sirène and Behind the Lines 1914–2014 with Anna Prohaska, the latter two on Deutsche Grammophon. His solo recording brings together works by Janáček, Beethoven and Schumann.
