Tamara Natanovna Eidelman, historian, lecturer, writer, educator, and creator of a popular YouTube channel with an audience of over 1.5 million subscribers, will deliver a historical lecture titled “Freedom and Dictatorship in the Modern World” on May 18 at 7:00 PM in Chicago.

Do you remember the euphoria that swept the world when the Berlin Wall fell? The happiness, the joy, the hope! The Iron Curtain was falling, the Cold War was over, and now we would live in a new, free world...

More than three decades have passed—where are those dreams and hopes now? There are more dictators in the world, and less freedom. Bloody wars, unexpected and alarming election results in even the most seemingly free and peaceful countries, and corruption corroding both dictatorships and democracies alike.

Where are we headed? How do we resist this?

I don’t have a single, precise answer to these questions. But there are examples from history and more questions emerging every day. These are the issues I would like to discuss with my audience.

Let’s search for answers together...

The lecture will be held in Russian. Afterward, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions to Tamara Natanovna.

The lecture will take place on May 18 at 7:00 PM at the Goodman Auditorium, Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center in Chicago.
Doors open at 6:30 PM.
