We continue our EASY DRAW workshop series, diving into the playful and expressive world of sketching and drawing.

Why “Easy”?

Because this workshop is open to all levels — from complete beginners to professional artists.

The focus is on drawing as a simple and accessible practice where everyone can discover something useful and personal.

This time, we will concentrate on the fundamental graphic elements — line and shape. We will explore how they function individually and how they interact with each other. Looking at examples from different artists, we will then move into a series of practical and engaging exercises.

What you will learn:

• understand the role of line and shape in drawing

• use them more consciously in practice

• work using only line or only shape

• search for your own balance between the two

• explore different types of line

• experiment with shape as a visual tool

All basic materials will be provided, but you are also welcome to bring your own sketchbooks, pencils, and other favorite tools.

Please bring one object with you — something interesting in silhouette but not too complex (for example, a small coffee pot or a camera) — which you will use during the workshop.

The workshop will be held in English.

About the artist

Natalia Mirzoyan is an award-winning animator, artist, and illustrator living and working in Tallinn. She teaches sketching at the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA).

Her animated film Snow Follows Us (Lumi saadab meid) recently received the EFTA 2026 Award for Best Animated Film.

For Natalia, sketching is like jazz improvisation — rhythmic, alive, and meditative. She encourages her students to create freely, experiment boldly, and not be afraid of mistakes, combining artistic fundamentals with personal creativity and a sensitive feeling for color.
