On 1 November, REJOICE Ensemble and Orthodox Singers join forces for a major concert at Tartu Pauluse Church. The programme features Antonín Dvořák’s Mass in D major and a new work by Estonian composer Lauri Jõeleht.
The concert opens with Lauri Jõeleht’s Kyrie & Gloria, written especially for this project. Its contemporary and intense musical language sets the stage for Dvořák’s music.
Dvořák’s Mass in D major, Op. 86 was written for soloists, choir and organ. Powerful choral passages alternate with quieter, more intimate moments, with the organ playing an integral role in the ensemble.
The concert brings together two professional vocal ensembles. Orthodox Singers, led by Valeri Petrov, has been active since 1989 and has performed in many European countries and the United States. In 2025, REJOICE Ensemble received Second Prize in the Professional Choirs category at the International Festival of Orthodox Church Music Hajnówka in Poland.
