What might it mean for us to approach the inevitability of our demise with a sense of humor and play? Can creativity be a catalyst for acceptance? Could a funeral be a space for grief and joy? Join us for this lighthearted death workshop that encourages you to think outside the (pine) box and consider how you want to make your exit from this mortal coil! 

About the facilitator: 

Kaja Matura is a creature raised in the lush jungles of the Hawaiian islands; a curious, queer, explorative witch balancing on the razor's edge of ancient wisdom and emerging technology. Like many millennials growing up in the states, the line of her ancestral lineage has been systematically severed, traditions lost or distorted, entrenched in an omnipresent mechanism selling a hollowed-out version of culture back to her. She's watched as the corporations moved in and took over, replacing the authentic messiness and color of life with dull, sterile copies. 

It is in this world that Kaja moves. Building something new, brick by brick. Drawing from her love of mythology and affinity for the botanical world, she weaves art that seeks to mimic the vibrancy of her terrestrial experience and entice the viewer to join the adventure. A Holistic Massage Therapist by profession, she recognizes the mento-physical toll this world takes on us and seeks to lead each person under her hands to a state of deeper ease. A bridge between human life and the rhythms of nature, our bodies, and our collective narratives.
