Description
Trio ’95, an ensemble of leading Estonian musicians, presents a programme devoted to the chamber music of Dmitri Shostakovich. At its heart are the composer’s deeply expressive Seven Romances on Poems by Alexander Blok, the sharply satirical vocal cycle Satires (Pictures of the Past), and his two piano trios. Together, these works span more than two decades of Shostakovich’s creative life, offering a fascinating perspective on both the youthful energy of his early work and the depth and complexity of his mature musical language.

The trio is joined in the vocal works by Annabel Soode, one of the most acclaimed and versatile young sopranos of her generation.

Trio ’95 is an ambitious piano trio whose repertoire ranges from the Classical and Romantic masters to contemporary music. The ensemble comprises pianist Rasmus Andreas Raide, violinist Robert Traksmann and cellist Marcel Johannes Kits. The trio’s musical journey together began in 2003, when its three members were classmates at the Tallinn Music High School, where they studied with Laine Leichter and later with Marrit Gerretz-Traksmann. They continued their musical education in Germany, studying in Berlin and Karlsruhe, and have furthered their studies with Professor Francis Gouton and Professor Alexander Bonduriansky.

Alongside the core piano trio repertoire, Trio ’95 is committed to championing Estonian music and expanding the repertoire for piano trio. Its programmes have featured works by Jaan Rääts, Arvo Pärt, Erkki-Sven Tüür and Tõnu Kõrvits. For the 2022 Estonian Music Days and the “Glasperlenspiel” Festival, the ensemble commissioned new works by Liisa Hõbepappel, Ülo Krigul, Rein Rannap and Kristjan Randalu.

In 2020, Trio ’95 received the annual award of the Estonian Cultural Endowment’s Music Endowment, recognising its success at a prestigious international chamber music competition and its extensive concert activity. The ensemble’s broad repertoire encompasses music from Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms to works by contemporary composers.

Annabel Soode is currently studying at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin and has joined the Dutch National Opera Studio from the 2026/27 season. In 2025, she received the PLMF Estonian Young Singer Award as well as the Jane Carty Memorial Prize at the Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition. She has appeared across Europe in opera, concert and music theatre, and has collaborated with several of Estonia’s leading musical ensembles. Lied, contemporary music and interdisciplinary projects that bring together different art forms hold a special place in her repertoire.
